Ministry of Development - 15 years!
Please join with me as I thank God that my first book, The Ministry of Development, has been serving the development profession for 15 years!
And now, a second edition, revised, updated and with new material from my doctoral dissertation on stewardship, is available.
Through the years I have witnessed many people use the book and share their stories with me. Please allow me to share some with you.
One executive director walked up to me at a conference and said he was ready to quit! He was tired of the fundraising pressures that kept him from "real ministry". He went on to say how he was going to give it one more shot by reading my book. Then it became clear to him it was not his job to raise funds, but rather it was God's job to move through stewards to be generous! What a relief! He is still leading his ministry today and has very successful relationships with his donors.
Another executive director told me at a conference that he had read the book for the third time on the flight in. He said he gains something new each time he reads it.
When I use the book as a training tool for a board retreat I see great acceptance of the principles. There is no argument or disbelief in the content of the book. Why? Because it is a great literary masterpiece? Hardly. But because it is God's word. It is the truth of these scriptures that tells the story of the steward, the ministry, and the strategies to connect God's people to God's work.
I take no credit for the success of this book. I am humbled by these stories and thankful God sees fit to use the book.
I want to use this enewsletter to make you aware of the new revised edition, but mostly to give thanks to God for being able to get this in the hands of so many.
